Archie & Julia are my grandparents. Although, they aren't where it all started, it's where I remember or I had heard it all started. I remember them fondly, as I do most of my family. I am here because of them and I am who I am because of them. Julia was an immigrant and Archie was a Merchant Marine. Perhaps this blog will fill in all the gaps from then to now.

My writings and photos encompass the hand-me-downs in life that we all hold so dear, and the long way we've all come, the way our parents wanted it. It's about the gifted furniture and glass ware, of course, but also the memories we hold, passed down and embody what they were and what's to come. This is where I can share our growth as a family through the progress on our home, where my family belongs. This blog will serve as my tree to reach back in my history and lean forward for my children and their children. Everyone has a story, and this is mine.

I started this blog to start fresh, since bethherbst.blogspot.com started to wear too many hats. It is still the home of my 365 project and the early beginnings of when we crossed the threshold of our little spot on this Earth and began calling it home collectively. Archie & Julia will be more finished projects, and photography sessions, and simplicity.
